Happy New Year (Part 2)

I was lucky enough to find my old camera yesterday and I got some pretty awful quality but very cute photos of our New Year's Eve.  This camera is about 7 years old and eats 2 AA batteries with every 10 photos I take, but at least I have something to use for a few days and then Matt's friend at work is lending me her camera for Hayden's birthday week.

Our day started with a trip to Pump It Up for some playtime and then we went to Nadine's Bakery to order Hayden's birthday cake.  They are making him a dairy-free 1/2 sheet cake with white cake, white frosting and fudge filling.  He actually chose all of the flavors with the lady and we all came up with the design.  It will be a blue background with planets and stars.  I can't wait to see how it comes out when we pick it up in a couple of weeks.  It turned out to be a $55 birthday cake, but for it to be dairy-free and totally safe for him to eat, it was well worth the money.  We also discovered that Nadine's makes about 30 different kinds of dairy-free pastries and cookies that they sell all of the time.  We let him pick out a bunch of cookies to take home and he is really happy with them.

For New Year's afternoon and evening, we played Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders and Hungry Hungry Hippos and put together some puzzles.  Then we all played with Hayden's Imaginext space shuttle and moon toys.  He just loves those imaginext things and they really inspire a ton of creativity and dramatic play.  He spends hours making up stories with them and I am so glad he got them from Santa.  He has an awesome Imaginext dragon castle coming for his birthday and he is going to LOVE it.  Anyway, I digress...The rest of our evening was very relaxing...we played Wii Fit and set off about 30 confetti poppers all over the house.  Hayden tuckered out around 9:00 and Matt and I around 10:30 but good 'ol MeeMaw made it to Midnight.

Today we have Hayden's godparents coming over for lunch and then after nap we are heading to our friend Tricia's house for a New Years dinner.  Hayden loves her daughter Jenna and I know they will have a blast.  Here's some (very crappy) photos of our New Year's Eve!
