Halloween Rocks!

Wow, we hae had an amazing day!  We went to the Meetup Moms picnic this morning with Hayden's pal Amelia and they had an awesome time jumping in the bounce castles and running ar
ound like maniacs. I love watching him play with such a sweet kid like he is. After the kids were exhausted we headed home for an hour of rest and then our good friends Hayley and James who are also Hayden's godparents, came over to hang out before our party. Around 4:00, the rest of our friends and family arrived for pizza, treats and fun. We all sat out front and handed out candy and Hayden and his friend David decided they wanted to get in on the action. They were little trick-or-treat pros...They always said "Trick-or-treat" and "Thank You" to each person. At one house, the elderly lady ran inside and grabbed two adorable hand-sewn bags with witches on them and asked the boys if they would like them for being such sweet little boys. She said she always makes a couple to give to her favorite visitors and I guess that was them this year. I thanked her at least 20 times and I plan on dropping by some Christmas cookies to her as a thank you. I do really love this neighborhood. No one had any scary stuff, the older children were very polite and everyone says hello to each other. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful place to live. After the trick-or-treating fun, I secretly replaced Hayden's dairy candy with candy I had set aside for that very reason. He had no idea that he was missing out on the chocolate. We are fortunate that he's not the type of kid that tanks up on candy and sugar and I have a feeling he probably won't touch most of it, which is fine with Matt because he will surely finish it off for him. Hayden played for a little longer out front while we gave out or last bit of candy and then he passed out promptly at 8:00. Right before bed, he said, "Thanks for a fun day Mommy. I love my candy and my mommy and daddy." I would say the day was as perfect as perfect could be!

Well, I'm off to enjoy an evening of sitting on the patio watching the stars with Matt. I'll post the pictures from today tomorrow. I can't be bothered right now...

Happy Halloween!

Halloween activities!

We have all had a busy week planning for Halloween and enjoying all of the fun activities we were invited to.  We carved our pumpkins tonight and all 3 of them are very cute.  I won't write too much now because I'm sure I will have a full Halloween report after tomorrow.  We have a picnic from 10-2 for our Meetup Moms group and then we are having a Halloween party for friends and family.  It should be an awesome day!

These are pictures from Hayden's school Halloween events and pumpkin carving from tonight.

Photos By Hayden

Hayden was helping us put up spider webs in the front of the house yesterday and I took a picture of him, as I usually do.  He came over to me and asked, "Mommy, may I take a picture of you this time?"  Of course I agreed and he took a bunch of pictures in the front yard, which came out absolutely beautiful.  It was so cute watching him walk around looking at different things, holding the camera up and holding down the button, then moving on to the next thing.  Here's some of the ones he took.  The tree and rocks are my favorite!

Social butterfly

We have had a really nice weekend with close friends and family.  We haven't done much except the zoo thing, we've just sort of been hanging out, playing with Play-Doh, getting Halloween stuff together, etc.  Mee-Maw's childhood friend from England, Pam came from LA to attend a wedding so she has been staying here since Friday and will leave tomorrow.

I usually expect Hayden to be shy around visitors but he sure did love Pam.  He has been talking to her, bossing her around and playing with her the whole weekend.  She was so sweet and brought Hayden a very stylish (so expensive I wasn't sure if he should wear it) outfit from the store she works at in Beverly Hills, Bonpoint.  He was so appreciative that she had brought him something and has been telling her Thank You for 2 days.  I love watching him interact with other people and it feels great to know he has no problem expanding his social skills with new people.  I hope he is always this outgoing because I know it will take him far in life (that and those gorgeous eyes)!  Here's a picture of Hayden with Pam wearing his very ritzy outfit!

We have lots of Halloween stuff coming up this week so expect to see many, many pictures of hayden in his Rossi suit.  I want to upload a few pics from each event so we can always have them here.  Mee-Maw, Hayden, Matt and I send our love to everyone!

Howl-O-Ween

We had a wonderful time at the Halloween event at the zoo this evening.  The weather was wonderful and Hayden wasn't hot at all in his costume.  Tons of people stopped us to tell us how great his costume was and a couple of people even took photos of him.  A lot of the animals were out this year which added some extra fun into the mix.  The female lion was right up against the fence watching all of the action and didn't mind her picture being taken at all.  The polar bears were out splashing and swimming in the dark, which Hayden loved.  The elephants were also checking out the action and seemed to enjoy watching the kids go by.  Hayden was a little scared of the men dressed in Star Wars costumes but nothing else really bothered him.  He politely went to each person with candy and said, "Trick or Treat" and "Thank you".  It was nice to watch him use his manners like such a big kid.  Here are some great pictures of the fun...Matt and I dressed as his biggest fans!

Halloween, here we come!

Today starts a really fun week for us...Halloween week!  I wasn't sure Hayden would be that into Halloween yet this year but he is very excited!  Tonight is the Howl-O-Ween event at the zoo, Wednesday is a Halloween parade and party at school, Thursday night is pumpkin carving, Friday he has another Halloween party at school, then Saturday we have a huge Halloween event at brandi fenton park for our meetup Moms group and we are having a party that night with all of our friends and family!  It should be a lot of fun and I will definitely post some pictures after tonight's event. Hayden is going to the zoo thing with his friend Amelia.  They have known each other since they were a few months old and always have lots of fun together!

Music

The past couple of weeks, Hayden has really developed his own taste in music. He always enjoyed music and singing and pretty much enjoyed whatever we put on, but these days he has a very specific taste. Hayden is absolutely in LOVE with the band Boney M from the 70s. He knows every word to their songs and his favorite by far is "Horray, Horray it's a Holiday". This kid knows the whole song, and by whole song I mean every drum beat, every humm, every word. We have the collection of Boney M songs on Matt's IPOD, on the computer and on CDs. And his tastes don't end there. He also really enjoys the works of Herman's Hermits and of course, The Beatles. His taste in more modern music is pretty broad, as he likes Angels and Airwaves (Probably because he heard it every day when I was pregnant with him), and of course "Dance Dance" by Fall Out Boy and a few Cobra Starship songs. Man does this kid boogie when those songs come on! He also tries to play the air drums and I think that may just be his instrument of choice. I will do my best to make a video of him singing his Boney M sometime in the next week, it's super cute. I wanted to make a note of his interests right now so we can look back on it later. I hope everyone is enjoying the start of Fall, I know we sure are!

Air and Space Museum!

We were going to stay home today...and then last night Hayden asked, "Mommy, you know that museum down the street with the planes out front?"  I said yes and he said, "May we please go there and look for space rockets?"  We decided to go ahead and check it out.  We drive by it every day and always say, we should check that out, but just haven't got around to it.  I am so glad we went!  Hayden had a blast in the Space building and was very interested in how the rockets work, what the planets are called, and he got so excited when he realized that astronauts take M&Ms into space.  We have decided to do his birthday party with a space theme since he is so interested as of late.  After the space area, we went to the three other hangers and saw lots of really cool airplanes and met a couple of awesome old men who told us all about the planes.  Hayden had a great time walking underneath the planes and was excited he was allowed to touch them.  After we looked around for about 2 1/2 hours, we decided it was nap and lunch time, so we went to the gift shop on the way out and hayden chose two cool die-cast planes to take home.  He was so exhausted that he passed out before we got out of the parking lot!  I would say it was a successful trip and Matt and I had fun learning about all of it as well.  I am posting pics of the museum and also a couple of him and his friend Amelia from yesterday (I'm not posting any of her face since I didn't get a chance to ask if it was ok but you get the idea of the fun they had even with the back of her head.)
