Today I had an extra day off of work since all schools in the district were closed, so Hayden and I dropped Matt off at work and had a day of adventures! We went and did some shopping for more Halloween decorations and stuff we need for our Halloween party then headed to the zoo with my good friend Jolene and her little boy, David. Hayden and David have become very good friends the past couple of months and constantly ask to play together. It's nice because they also live just about ten houses down the street but sadly they are going to Washington for a year in december :( Anyways, back to today. The zoo was phenomenal today. They had an armadillo for the kids to pet, a snake to hold, an otter demonstration and the animals were very active. The boys had a blast running from one exhibit to another and worked together to decide where to go next. After a picnic lunch and a train ride, Jolene and I decided to take the boys to Toys R Us to try out scooters since they both want one from Santa. Again, the kids had so much fun looking around, trying things out and both decided that they liked the same red Radio Flyer scooter. I assured Hayden that Santa would remember a few weeks from now when he is packing up the sleigh. As we were about to leave, Hayden and David saw a pink Corvette Power Wheels and hopped right in! They took turns playing with the buttons and sitting in the drivers seat. I suppose men are never too young to start car shopping!
After about an hour playing at the toy store, we worked our way to the door and said goodbye to our friends. Hayden and I cruised around a bit to give him a car nap and then we went and shopped at Costco. We watched forklifts work for about fifteen minutes before we left and then on the way to check out, a Costco employee dropped a stack of empty cracker boxes. Hayden ran over to her and said, "Silly, you dropped some boxes! I can get them!" He helped the lady pick up the boxes and she talked to him for a little while about how sweet it was of him to help her and she hopes she can have a grandson like him soon. The whole thing was very sweet and I maybe spoke ten words the whole time. They had a whole little conversation going.
After Costco, we got to finally pick up Matt and do our usual grocery trip, which was fun as usual since Hayden helps us shop. I like letting him pick out as much dairy-free stuff as possible so he feels like he has lots of choices. Needless to say it was a very busy day and tomorrow will be just as crazy. We have Movers and Shakers class, a playdate with Hayden's friend A from his old school, a birthday party for Hayden's friend from his new school, and a baby shower to go to! It should be an eventful day full of pictures as usual.
